To achieve a healthy lifestyle or simply gain, lose weight or increase performance, sport is a fundamental pillar but doesn’t act alone. Maintaining a good state of health implies caring for and controlling food as a fundamental axis, it represents more than a half of the way to a healthy life.
People who exercise should eat properly to perform in their workouts and also see results. At Gymnastics Camp it is vitally important that the participants carry out an adequate diet and proportional to the exercise they perform during their stay on campus. Therefore, we wanted to group the most important tips that involve a healthy diet versus sports practice:
- Make five meals: it is necessary to make three main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and two secondary meals that keep the metabolism active all day. It is important that the body always has energy reserves when it is going to make a greater physical effort than we are used to. It is advisable let through between 2 and 3 hours between each meal.
- Incorporate fruits and vegetables: they are the basis of the diet, the most important pillar, they should be eaten every day since their vitamins, minerals and fiber provide the fuel that the muscles need to play sports. Also, it must be remembered, that they must be natural origin, avoid processed at all moment.
- Incorporate carbohydrates and proteins in meals: the perfect combination for energy is the intake of bread, whole grains and protein sources such as chicken, beef, eggs, fish or dairy. The combination of these foods together with fruits and vegetables should be proportional, it isn’t good to abuse it since it can lead to heavier digestions for the body and reduce productivity.
- Eat good quality fats: such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, olives, avocado, etc. Avoiding those fats that are harmful such as those contained in industrial pastries, fried foods or sugary drinks. Good fats are an essential source of energy and fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K), which are essential for healthy brain development and cell reproduction.
Learning to enjoy eating and enjoying food is one of the fundamental objectives that Gymnastics Camp seeks to reach in its camps for the little ones who, on numerous occasions, have difficulties in relating to certain foods. Therefore, our project of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation not only offers the opportunity to live a unique sporting experience, with Olympic trainers. It also has a network of expert nutritionists who will make diets for young athletes and control their diet so that they perform at their best during their stay.
